Sanders announces that winner of plurality of delegates should be Democratic nominee

The Democratic presidential contender Senator Bernie Sanders announced that the winner of a plurality of delegates would be the winner of the Democratic nomination. If Biden "has more votes than me, he's the winner", Sanders said. He added that superdelegates voting for the contender without the plurality of votes would be damaging to the Democratic Party.

Marianne Williamson endorses Bernie Sanders

Following the drop out of Andrew Yang out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, his former contender Marianne Williamson switches her endorsement from Andrew Yang to Senator Bernie Sanders who is still in the race. The endorsement was announced at a Bernie Sanders rally in Austin, Texas.

Former Democratic presidential candidate contender Andrew Yang says "someone needs to pull an Andrew Yang", meaning that someone needs to drop out in order for the field to be able to consolidate. He says that "each candidate wants to be the last person standing to absorb the non-Bernie energy".

In the "Report of Receipt and Disbursements" published by the Federal Election Commission it is shown that the presidential campaign of the former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spent over $463 million dollars on his campaign.

Warren creates document that would release former Bloomberg employees from nondisclosure agreements

Senator and  Democratic presidential nominee contender Elizabeth Warren calls for Michael Bloomberg to release former employees from nondisclosure agreements. Specifically "women who have accused him of sexual harassment" so they can voluntarily speak about their experiences. For that purpose the drafted a document - based on her background in teaching contract law.

Former CIA Director says US is "in a full-blown national security crisis"

The former CIA Director John O. Brennan tweeted that he thinks Donald Trump is "abetting" the Russian election interference in order to stay in office for a second term. This is done by Trump "trying to prevent the flow of intelligence to Congress" which he calls a "full-blown national security crisis".

Oracle founder holds Trump fundraiser, 300 employees walk off the job

Following a fundraiser for President Donald Trump, hosted by Oracle founder and Executive Chairman Larry Ellison, around 300 of his employees at Oracle stopped working out of protest at noon and spend the remaining day volunteering for good causes.

Kentucky reports record number of registered voters for 2020 elections

As of January 31 2020 Kentucky had a historically high number of registered voters, the Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adamas announced. In total Kentucky now has over  3,462,152 registered voters. The Democratic party has a slight lead with 48% of the voters affiliating with their party, compared to 43% of the total voters affiliating with the Republican party. Around 9% have other political affiliations. The last day to register for the May 19 primary is April 20.

President Trump mentions possible Roger Stone pardon

The United States President Donald Trump said publically that "Roger has a very good chance of exoneration" but we said he would do "anything in terms of the great powers bestowed upon a president of the United States" meaning his right to hand out a presidential pardon.

Washington Post researches: Sanders changed opinion on contested convention since 2016

The Democratic presidential nominee contender and senator Bernie Sanders said during the Las Vegas debate that he opposes a contested convention where superdelegates weight in their votes. This stands in contrast to his standpoint in 2016 when he was facing Hillary Clinton for the nomination. Back then he said, " The responsibility that superdelegates have is to decide what is best for this country and what is best for the Democratic Party". Even if it would mean to override a pledged delegate majority.

During debate: Only Bernie Sanders against the option of a contested convention

During the Democratic debate in Las Vegas, the candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination were asked if the "person with the most delegates at the end of the primary season" should be the nominee for the Democratic party, even if the candidate is short of a majority of delegates. All candidates except Bernie Sanders answered the question with no. This is important in particular because if no candidate has a majority on the first ballot, 500 superdelegates that aren't appointed through primaries can vote in the second one.

Her campaign team announced that the Senator and presidential nominee contender Elizabeth Warren raised $2,8 million in a single day following the latest democratic debate. During the debate, Elizabeth Warren targeted many of her comments against her competitor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg who made his first appearance in a democratic debate.

Ride provider Lyft announces that they'll provide free and discounted rides for primary and general elections

The company released a blog post in which they state that they'll distribute free and discounted rides. The goal is to help people "exercise their fundamental right to vote" by providing reliable and affordable access to the polling sides. In order to ensure that people can be identified which are most in need of transportation Lyft is partnering up with various nonprofit organizations.

Poll by Data for Progress: Nevada lead by Sanders and followed by Warren, Buttigieg and Biden

A new poll by Data for Progress found the democratic presidential nominee contender Bernie Sanders leads with 35%. This puts him at more than double the percentage points than either of his competitors Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, and Joe Biden which all poll around the same within a possible statistical inaccuracy between 16-14%.

Ted Cruz voices criticism on Alabama vasectomy bill

Following the introduction of a bill that would make vasectomy mandatory for men under certain conditions, the Republican Texas senator Ted Cruz tweeted " Yikes. A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take everything...literally!". Ted Cruz is known for his conservative stand towards abortions.

The democratic presidential nominee contender Bernie Sanders claimed at one of his rallys in Carson City, Nevada that his opponent Michael Bloomberg uses his private fortune in an attempt to "try to buy the presidency by spending hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars on TV ads".
