Former President Donald Trump has hired a new defence team at his upcoming impeachment trial next week after five members of his previous team had quit. Trial lawyers Bruce L Castor and David Schoen are set to lead Trump's new defence team. Schoen previously met with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein about representing him shortly before his death.

"It is an honour to represent the 45th President, Donald J Trump, and the United States constitution," so Schoen.

Only five Republican senators voted with the 50 Democrats to continue the impeachment proceedings against the former American president Donald Trump for "incitement of insurrection" at the US Capitol. The other GOP members considered it unconstitutional, making a conviction unlikely as it would take two-thirds of Senators (67 in total) to convict Trump.

Newly-elected Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, accusing him of corruption and abuse of power. Greene, who has ties to the QAnon conspiracy theory, announced her move on Twitter, which previously blocked her account for "multiple violations of our civic integrity policy" following the Capitol Hill riots.

Greene previously alleged that Biden allowed his son, Hunter Biden, "to siphon cash from America’s greatest enemies Russian and China".

"President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the presidency. His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama’s vice president is lengthy and disturbing," so Greene.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the House will transmit article of impeachment "soon", but did not provide any further details on when the trial might begin.

"I’m not going to be telling you when it is going," so Pelosi. "The other questions are about how a trial would proceed. We are ready."

Rudy Giuliani has announced he won't be part of Donald Trump's legal team when Trump faces his second impeachment trial for "incitement of insurrection" in the US Senate, citing to his involvement in the "Save America Rally" on January 6 where he called for a "trial by combat".

“Because I gave an earlier speech. I am a witness and therefore unable to participate in court or Senate chamber,” Giuliani told ABC News.

Donald Trump will face trial in the Senate after being charged with misconduct in office. The trial will be held after Mr trump leaves office next Wednesday according to Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell.

The United States House has voted in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump. The resolution has been brought to a vote following the storming of the Capitol building.

The US Democrats want to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump as early as Monday. The leader of the House of Representatives, Pelosi, had previously called for Trump to be prosecuted.

The Congress of the Republic did not reach the 87 votes necessary to vacate President Martín Vizcarra on the grounds of permanent moral incapacity. The motion to remove the president had 32 votes in favour, 78 votes against and 15 abstentions.

The Constitutional Court of Peru refused to suspend the impeachment process of President Martín Vizcarra As a consequence of this decision, the president or his lawyer should appear before Congress this Friday to defend themselves before the legislators vote on whether to impeach him.

Marianella Ledesma, the president of the Constitutional Court, told local radio that judges had voted by five to two to reject an urgent petition by Vizcarra asking that Congress suspend debate on whether to impeach him for "moral incapacity."

The Congress of Peru voted to admit the impeachment process against the President Martín Vizcarra. There were 65 votes in favour, 36 against and 24 abstentions.

The Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) voted today favourably to initiate impeachment proceedings against right-wing Governor Wilson Witzel. Before today's vote the Assembly had 12 distinct impeachment petitions, for the process all of them will be combined.

A few weeks ago Brazilian federal police raided the residences of the Governor, under the allegation Witzel and his wife Helena led a sprawling criminal operation in which her law firm was used to receive payment from a company that won state coronavirus contracts.
