Lewis Hamilton is on pole position for the Russian Grand Prix, in Sochi. Hamilton, the current leader of the Formula 1 championship, finished ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas took the third place, Sergio Perez the fourth position, and Daniel Ricciardo will start in the fifth position.

After the session, Hamilton said, "Firstly, I have say a big hi to all the fans that are here, we've missed the fans all year! I hope everyone's staying safe."

The Russian Grand Prix will happen Sunday, September 27, at 11:10 (UTC).

Lewis Hamilton won a turbulent Formula 1 Tuscan Grand Prix in Mugello. The race had two red flags, and 8 drivers abandoning it. The British driver has now 90 victories in the category and six in the 2020 season.

Hamilton finished ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas, with Alexander Albon in third. The victory gave Hamilton a 55 points lead over Bottas.

The Briton is one victory away from Michael Schumacher's all-time record and set to equal his seven titles.

Lewis Hamilton is on pole position for the Tuscany Grand Prix, in Mugello. Hamilton, the current leader of the Formula 1 championship, finished ahead of Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen took the third place, Alexander Albon the fourth position, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start in the fifth position.

After the session, Hamilton said, "This track is phenomenal. It’s a really challenging circuit. I’ve been working so hard in the background to improve on my lines and set up. I finally got the lap I needed."

The Tuscany Grand Prix will be the 1,000th race for the Ferrari Formula 1 team.

The German driver, and four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel signed a multi-year contract with the Aston Martin F1 Team from 2021. Aston Martin F1 Team will be the rebrand of the current Racing Point.

Vettel said: "I'm extremely proud to say that I will become an Aston Martin driver in 2021. It's a new adventure for me with a truly legendary car company. I have been impressed with the results the team has achieved this year, and I believe the future looks even brighter."

Lewis Hamilton dominated and won the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix in Spa Francorchamps. The British driver has now 89 victories in the category.

Hamilton finished ahead of team-mate Valtteri Botas, with Max Verstappen in third. The victory gave Hamilton a 47 points lead over Verstappen.

The Briton is two victories away from Michael Schumacher's all-time record and set to equal his seven titles.

Lewis Hamilton is on pole position for the Belgian Grand Prix, in Spa-Francorchamps. Hamilton, the current leader of the Formula 1 championship, finished half a second ahead of Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen took the third place, Daniel Ricciardo the fourth and Alexander Albon the fifth position.

Lewis Hamilton dedicated the pole position to the actor Chadwick Boseman: "What he accomplished and the legacy he left is so incredible to me. He’s inspired a whole generation of young black men and women and provided them with a true superhero to look up to. Rest in power, my friend."

Formula 1 has confirmed the addition of 4 races to the 2020 season: Turkey on November 15, Bahrain on November 29 and December 6, and finally Abu Dhabi on December 13.

"We can confirm that Turkey, Bahrain (hosting two races), and Abu Dhabi will be part of the revised season and want to express our thanks to the hard work of all our promoters and partners in making this 17-race season possible," stated the racing organization.

Within the statement, Formula 1 also announced that some of the remaining races of the year will be set to receive a limited number of spectators, with further details to be released at a later time.

Takuma Sato won the 104th edition of the Indianapolis 500. Sato won the famous race for the second time, holding off Scott Dixon. The race was held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway without fans in the stands for the first time in history.

Sato passed Dixon after the last round of pit stops and held him off as Spencer Pigot crashed hard with five laps remaining. The race finished under caution. Graham Rahal finished third, with Santinio Ferrucci fourth and Josef Newgarden fifth.

Lewis Hamilton confirmed his favouritism and won the Formula One Spanish GP. The Mercedes driver has now 88 victories in Formula 1.

The British finished 24 seconds ahead of second-place Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas in third, that also got the fastest lap.

Hamilton started from pole position and was not threatened during the 66 laps of the race, winning for the fourth consecutive time in Barcelona.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen won the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix to bring Mercedes' domination to an end. Verstappen's victory was founded on his car being nicer to its tyres than the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

Hamilton finished second, Bottas third, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc fourth on a one-stop strategy.

With drama on the last lap, Lewis Hamilton dominated the British Grand Prix and won at Silverstone, his third consecutive victory in the Formula One season. During the last lap, Hamilton's tire got a puncture, but the Mercedes' driver was able to control his car and complete the race.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished second, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc third.

Formula One's preliminary schedule has been extended into October and November with the addition of 3 new rounds in Europe (Germany, Portugal and Italy). Those races replace the races in the Americas, now officially ruled out for 2020.

Reports in sports media suggest that the final calendar could see 15 to 18 races, with at least Bahrain and Abu Dhabi tracks expected to be added as season closers.

Formula 1 decided to remove the Brazilian, Mexican and US races from the 2020 calendar. The reasons for the decision were the tight schedule and, mainly, the Covid-19 outbreak.

The three countries currently have some of the worst infection rates in the world. The US Grand Prix, in Austin, Texas, would be held on October 23. A week later, Formula 1 would travel to Mexico City. The Brazilian race, in São Paulo, was initially scheduled for November 15.

Lewis Hamilton confirmed his favouritism and won the Formula One Hungarian GP. Second place went to Red Bull's Max Verstappen, with Mercedes to Valtteri Bottas in third.

Hamilton started from pole position and was not threatened during the 70 laps of the race, winning for the eighth time in Hungaroring. The British took the top spot in the driver standings after Round 3.

Lewis Hamilton won the Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, followed by his teammate Valtteri Bottas and by Red Bull's Max Verstappen. With the win Sunday, Hamilton has now won at least one race in all of his 14 seasons in Formula One.

Charles Leclerc tweeted an apology to Sebastian Vettel and the Team Ferrari after a collision on the first lap retired both cars from the race: "I am disappointed in myself. I'm sorry but being sorry is not enough. Seb hasn't got any faults today. I've let the team down after them working a whole week to bring the updates early. Too eager to gain those places in the first lap. I will learn from it.".

Bottas, Leclerc and Norris took the podium this afternoon with outstanding performances. Several cars proved unreliable at the first race of the season, allowing Leclerc and Norris to climb up the ranks during the race. Lando Norris achieved the fastest lap at the very end of the race in a McLaren car to take the first podium of his career.

As the first Formula 1 race of 2020 approaches this weekend, the Mercedes-AMG team have announced a new car livery.

The organisation commits to "fighting racism and discrimination in all its forms" as their ranks feature only 3% of people identified from minority groups and 12% women.

In a press release, the team stated: "the Black Lives Matter movement has shone a searching light on how much we need new measures and actions in the fight against racism and all forms of discrimination".

Ferrari Formula One team principal Mattia Binotto said on Thursday that the Scuderia is exploring the possibility of entering the IndyCar series.

Formula One’s new budget cap of $145 million for teams from 2021 would lead to staff being made redundant and the Italian carmaker was looking at options to ensure its employees retain their jobs.

"Ferrari feels a lot of social responsibility towards its employees and we want to be sure that for each of them there will be a workspace in the future," Binotto told Sky in Italy.
