The Dutch driver Max Verstappen took his first win of the year in a chaotic, incident-strewn Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as Lewis Hamilton fought back to second place.

Lando Norris took third place after a strong weekend in the McLaren, followed by two Ferraris with Charles Leclerc and team-mate Carlos Sainz.

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedez, took pole position ahead of Sergio Perez, Red Bull, in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix qualifying session. Hamilton now has 99 pole positions in his career.

Max Verstappen took the third position and Charles Leclerc put the Ferrari fourth.

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes won the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, beating Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who put him under immense pressure. Hamilton's celebrated his 96th win in Formula 1.

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas finished third as Mercedes got a double podium finish once again. Lando Norris was fourth for McLaren ahead of Sergio Perez, who had started from the pit lane in the second Red Bull, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Daniel Ricciardo, of McLaren.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen was 0.388 seconds quicker than Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes to take a stunning pole position at the F1 season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Valtteri Bottas was third, ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly's Alpha Tauri.

Max Verstappen won his second race of the season with the Red Bull team, while Bottas and Hamilton completed the podium lineup. With the last race of 2020, McLaren-Renault reached third position in the constructors championship, behind Mercedes and Red Bull Honda.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen secured the pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the first pole for the team this season.

Valtteri Bottas followed Verstappen with Lewis Hamilton third. McLaren's Lando Norris is fourth ahead of Red Bull's Alex Albon.

Valtteri Bottas is on pole position for the Sakhir Grand Prix, in Bahrain. Bottas, finished ahead of Mercedes team-mate George Russel, acting as a stand-in for Lewis Hamilton who was forced to miss the event having tested positive forCovid-19.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen took the third place, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc the fourth position, and Sergio Perez will start in the fifth position.

The Sakhir Grand Prix starts takes place Sunday at 17:10(UTC).

In another eventful afternoon in F1, Romain Grosjean managed to escape his burning Haas F1 car after cutting through a trackside barrier that tore his car in half. The much delayed race restart was marked by yet another crash, leaving Lance Stroll upside down in his Racing Point car.

Later in the race, Sergio Perez managed to drive up to third position, until an engine issue forced him to retire with 3 laps to go. The race was forced to end with the safety car on track, and Alex Albon took the third place behind his team mate Max Verstappen. McLaren's Norris and Sainz took 4th and 5th place respectively, bringing the team back to 3rd place in the constructor's championship.

Hamilton, who celebrated his seventh title two weeks ago, had a comfortable 0.289 seconds lead to Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas and collected the 98th pole of his Formula 1 career.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon were third and fourth, with Sergio Perez in the fifth position.

Renault's Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon were sixth and seventh, separated by just 0.002secs, ahead of Alpha Tauri's Pierre Gasly and McLaren's Lando Norris.

Racing Point's Lance Stroll beat Red Bull's Max Verstappen by 0.290 seconds and took the pole position for the Turkish Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton, on the verge of his seventh title, could manage only a sixth place.

Stroll's pole came completely out of the blue on a day when his Racing Point team clearly had their car set up just so to work the tyres effectively on a treacherously slippery track in challenging conditions.

Stroll's team-mate Sergio Perez was third ahead of Red Bull's Alexander Albon and Renault's Daniel Ricciardo.

Valtteri Bottas beat Mercedes team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, to take the pole position for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. The Finn was 0.097 seconds quicker than Hamilton, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen starting in third.

The top five are complete with Alpha Tauri's Pierre Gasly taking a surprise fourth position followed by Renault's Daniel Ricciardo in fifth.

Lewis Hamilton won the Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimao, broke the record for the most victories in the Formula 1 (now 92), opened a 77-point advantage over teammate Bottas in the championship, and moved ever closer to a seventh world title, which would match Schumacher's other surviving record.

Valtteri Botas finished in second, Max Verstappen in third, Charles Leclerc in fourth and Pierre Gasly in fifth.

The British Lewis Hamilton snatched the pole position for the Portuguese Grand Prix from team-mate Valtteri Bottas with a fast lap at the end of Q3.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen in start in third, followed by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Racing Point's Sergio Perez.

After the qualifying, Hamilton said: "I can't tell you how hard that was today! I've just seen that Valtteri topped every session, and I've just been digging to find the time... I chose to do three laps to have a chance to beat his time."

With another solid performance at Nürburgring, Hamilton overtook Bottas, who eventually retired with power issues. Mick Schumacher, himself currently a championship leader in F2, surprised Hamilton with the gift of one of his celebrated father's helmets after the race.

Verstappen took 2nd place and the fastest lap, however Ricciardo's 3rd place was even more celebrated in the paddock as it awarded Renault their first podium in years, which Ricciardo had vowed to achieve before his move to McLaren next season.

The Racing Point team also had reasons to celebrate as they rose to 3rd in the season standings behind Red Bull, following strong performances from drivers Perez and Hülkenberg, the latter having replaced Stroll at the last minute for this weekend's event.

The Finnish Valtteri Bottas is on the pole position of the Eifel Grand Prix, to take place Sunday at the Nurburgring race track in Germany. The Mercedes Benz driver celebrated his 14th career pole.

Bottas teammate Lewis Hamilton to start in second, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen in third.

After the qualifying, Bottas stated "It's such a nice feeling when you get it on the last lap! It was tricky today with a short practice and getting the tyres spot on."

Nico Hulkenberg will replace Lance Stroll for this Grand Prix at the Nurburgring after the Canadian missed practice on Saturday morning after falling ill.

Valtteri Botas won the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. The Finish driver has now nine victories in the category.

Botas finished ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, with Lewis Hamilton in third.

In the post-race interview, Botas said: "Once I was in clean air I felt that the pace was pretty awesome and that I could control everything.

Lewis Hamilton is on pole position for the Russian Grand Prix, in Sochi. Hamilton, the current leader of the Formula 1 championship, finished ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas took the third place, Sergio Perez the fourth position, and Daniel Ricciardo will start in the fifth position.

After the session, Hamilton said, "Firstly, I have say a big hi to all the fans that are here, we've missed the fans all year! I hope everyone's staying safe."

The Russian Grand Prix will happen Sunday, September 27, at 11:10 (UTC).

Lewis Hamilton is on pole position for the Tuscany Grand Prix, in Mugello. Hamilton, the current leader of the Formula 1 championship, finished ahead of Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen took the third place, Alexander Albon the fourth position, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start in the fifth position.

After the session, Hamilton said, "This track is phenomenal. It’s a really challenging circuit. I’ve been working so hard in the background to improve on my lines and set up. I finally got the lap I needed."

The Tuscany Grand Prix will be the 1,000th race for the Ferrari Formula 1 team.

Hamilton finished ahead of team-mate Valtteri Botas, with Max Verstappen in third. The victory gave Hamilton a 47 points lead over Verstappen.

The Briton is two victories away from Michael Schumacher's all-time record and set to equal his seven titles.

Lewis Hamilton dedicated the pole position to the actor Chadwick Boseman: "What he accomplished and the legacy he left is so incredible to me. He’s inspired a whole generation of young black men and women and provided them with a true superhero to look up to. Rest in power, my friend."
