The Austrian Dominic Thiem won the 2020 U.S. Open Sunday after defeating the German Alexander Zverev in a five-set comeback (2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6) at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, in New York.
During the post-match press conference, Thiem said: "It was tough to stay there and to still believe, but I did, It's a Slam final...the belief was always there."
The 27-year-old Thiem won his first Grand Slam silverware.
