United Airlines Holdings Inc. late Wednesday posted its fourth straight quarter of losses, saying it expects its capacity to be down at least 51% in the current quarter. The company swung to a net loss of $1.9 billion during the last quarter of 2020, with operating revenue of $3.41 billion, compared with $10.9 billion a year ago.
United stock has lost about 50% in the past 12 months, contrasting with gains around 16% for the S&P 500 index.

United Airlines has announced that passengers without a masks in flight will be asked by the flight attendants to put on a mask. If the passenger does not have one, the attendants will offer them a mask. If a passenger still does not comply the flight attendant will file a report after reaching the destination and the pessenger could be added to a "internal travel restriction list" effectively banning them from flying for an amount of time that has to be determined. The policy comes as United Airlines aims to create an envirement where people are protected as good as possible from Covid-19.

United Airlines announced in an internal memo to crew it is closing its international bases for flight attendants in Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Tokyo effective October 1.
“This was certainly a very difficult decision to make, and we recognise that closing any base places a hardship on those who live near those locations,” John Slater, United’s Senior VP for Inflight Services, said in the memo.
The only international base the company will maintain is for London’s Heathrow Airport.
