Peloton CEO John Foley has issued a statement on the company's website warning owners of the Tread+ treadmill to keep both "children and pets away from Peloton exercise equipment at all times" after a "tragic accident involving a child and the Tread+, resulting in, unthinkably, a death."

"While we are aware of only a small handful of incidents involving the Tread+ where children have been hurt, each one is devastating to all of us at Peloton, and our hearts go out to the families involved," Foley wrote. "We design and build all of our products with safety in mind. But in order to help ensure that you and your family members stay safe with Peloton products in your home, we need your help. This is especially true during what I hope is the final stretch of the pandemic where everyone is still at home."

Peloton, the connected fitness-equipment company, reported a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $89.1 million, the first-ever since the company went public a year ago. The company revenue totalled $607.1 million, up from $223 million a year ago.

During a conference call Thursday, the company CEO James Foley said: "The strong tailwind we experienced in March as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold has continued to propel the demand for our products into the fourth quarter and the first couple of months of the Q1 fiscal year 2021."
