Apple released its updated 13-inch MacBook Pro on Monday. The device comes with the new Magic Keyboard and an Intel 10th Gen processors "for up to 80 percent faster graphics performance". RAM can be upgraded up to 32GB and storage up to 4TB. The model starts at $1,299 in the US and 1,499€ in Europe.

Apple announced that its Worldwide Developers Conference 2020 will be held virtually and free for all developers. WWDC20 will begin on June 22 and further information will be made available to developers in early June.

Germany backs Google and Apple app to trace coronavirus infections

Germany changed course over which type of smartphone technology to use to trace coronavirus infections, backing an approach supported by Apple and Google instead of an initiative called Pan-European Privacy-Preserving Proximity Tracing (PEPP-PT).

Health Minister Jens Spahn and Chancellor Angela Merkel's chief of staff Helge Braun told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that the German Government now favors a "decentralized software architecture" that would see data stored on users' phones instead of on a central database.

The Pan-European Privacy-Preserving Proximity Tracing (PEPP-PT) has Germany's Fraunhofer HHI research institute and the Robert Koch Institute public health body as key players.

Apple's iOS vulnerable to attack via Zero Day Exploit through prepared emails

Two security vulnerabilities in iOS have been actively exploited for several years. One patch has not yet been applied. Attackers can exploit the vulnerabilities via prepared emails that they send to their victims. Currently, iOS users should no longer use Apple's integrated mail app. Under iOS 12, the attacker email must be opened by the user. However, this e-mail does not contain any content. Under iOS 13, the attack can be carried out in the background without any user interaction. Only the mail app in the mobile operating system is affected. macOS is not affected.

Apple announces donation of 2 million masks

In order to help fight the coronavirus the company has announced that it'll donate "millions of masks for health professionals in the US and Europe", CEO Tim Cook announced in a tweet. Vice President Mike Pence also confirmed the donation during a White House briefing and specified the number of donated masks to the US as 2 million.
