New York prosecutors have subpoenaed personal banking records of longtime Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg and are investigating whether Weisselberg and his family received gifts from the former president. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance and several prosecutors are currently conducting a probe into Donald Trump and his company and, according to people familiar with the matter, are looking to Weisselberg for cooperation in this criminal probe.

The author E. Jean Carroll had previously filed a defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump. She accuses that he has raped her in a department store in Manhattan in the 1990s.

The Department of Justice has now stated in court papers that Trump has been acting in his official capacity as president when he denied that he ever got to know E. Jean Carroll and can therefore be defended by lawyers of the government.

New York City restaurant owners have filed a $2 billion class-action suit against city and state officials in Manhattan's Supreme Court, stating a violation of the constitutional rights of mover than 150,000 New York City restaurant owners.

"It’s been nearly six months since New York City restaurants were mandated to shutdown indoor dining, and Mayor de Blasio still does not have a reopening plan, even though the rest of the state has been dining indoors since June," so Andrew Rigie, Executive Director of the New York City Hospitality Alliance.

After being found dead in his condo in Manhattan on Tuesday, law enforcement has detained the assistant of murdered tech entrepreneur Fahim Saleh.

The entrepreneur had been found dead and dismembered in his flat with an electrical saw still plugged in. According to the medical examiner, Saleh's death is accounted for as homicide and his body shows stab wounds on the neck and torso.

Donald Trump's former personal attorney and "fixer" Michael Cohen is back in custody after violating the terms of his early release from jail. Cohen, who had been released from prison into home-confinement due to Covid-19 concerns, was seen visiting restaurants in Manhattan on multiple occasions.

United States Supreme Court grants Manhattan district attorney access to Trump tax returns

The Supreme Court of the United States has decided that the district attorney of Manhattan will be granted access to the tax returns of United States President Donald Trump. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance had filed a subpoena directed at the accounting company Mazars.

In a second ruling, the Supreme Court denied Congress access to Donald Trump's tax and financial records based on subpoenas against Deutsche Bank, Capital One and the Mazars USA accounting firm.

New York Broadway to remain closed until end of 2020

The Broadway in New York City will remain closed for the remainder of the year and are not expecting to open their doors until late Winter or early Spring 2021. The Broadway League, the organisation representing theatres, issued a statement that ticket holders would get a refund or could exchange their tickets for a future date.

All Broadway theatres have been closed since March 12, calling the closure "the only intermission."

New York City has reported 300 Covid-19 related deaths so far. On Tuesday, a makeshift morgue was set up outside of Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital to prepare for a potential surge of victims. New York State has become the US epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak, counting over 30,000 confirmed cases.
