U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that CEOs should "stay out of politics" after several companies issued statements regarding the new election law in Georgia.

"My advice to the corporate CEOs of America is to stay out of politics. Don’t pick sides in these big fights," so McConnell. "Corporations will invite serious consequences if they become a vehicle for far-left mobs to hijack our country from outside the constitutional order."

Gabriel Sterling, Georgia’s voting system implementation manager and a Republican, has asked President Donald Trump to tone down his rhetoric disputing the election results to "stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence."

"Mr President, it looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We’re investigating, there’s always a possibility, I get it. You have the rights to go to the courts. What you don’t have the ability to do – and you need to step up and say this – is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone is going to get hurt, someone is going to get shot, someone is going to get killed, and it’s not right. It’s not right," so Sterling at a press conference on Tuesday.

Sterling had received threats after election results were announced and had police protection around his home last week.

Georgia's Secretary Brad Raffensperger has announced that all votes within the state will be hand recounted.

While Joe Biden currently sits approximately 14,000 votes ahead of Donald Trump, Secretary Raffensperger said "It's an audit, recanvass and recount all in one. It'll be a process that gets it all." He went on to say that he 'understood the national significance of this', and "We're doing this because it's really what makes the most sense... We have to run a statewide audit."

At the time of writing, currently projected President-elect Biden leads the popular votes by over 5 million. (JB: 77,320,00 / DT: 72,220,000)

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said there would be a recount in the state in the presidential election race, based on the current narrow margin and the small number of votes left to be counted. Under state law, candidates in Georgia can request a statewide recount once the election is certified if the margin is within half a percentage point.

"The focus for our office and the county elections officials, for now, remains on making sure that every legal vote is counted and recorded accurately," Raffensperger said. "We are literally looking at a margin of less than, you know, a large high school," he added.

A week after reopening schools for in-person classes, the Georgia school district reports that at least 260 students and 8 teachers have contracted Covid-19. Those with a confirmed positive result are now under quarantine for two weeks and everyone who had been in contact with them was urged to self-isolate as well. Infections were reported from elementary, middle as well as high schools.

"We have students and staff reporting presumptive, pending and positive COVID-19 tests every day, and this will continue as we operate schools during a pandemic. We are working with the Department of Public Health to confirm, contact trace, quarantine and then notify the school community," so the district's superintendent, Dr Brian V. Hightower.
