German federal government raises target for herd immunity to 80 percent
According to a response from the German Federal Ministry of Health to an information request from FDP member of parliament Wieland Schinnenburg, obtained by Tagesspiegel Background, the government appears to be setting the herd immunity target much higher than before. The German government has so far stated 60 percent, two-thirds of the population, occasionally 60 to 70 percent, but now communicated up to 80 percent.
