Hong Kong legislative election postponed due to Covid-19
Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam has announced that she'll invoke the Emergency Regulations Ordinance to postpone the legislative elections.
She stated that "it is a really tough decision to delay the election, but we want to ensure public safety and health, and to make sure the elections are held in an open and impartial manner. The decision is therefore essential".
The elections were originally scheduled to take place in September, and democratic politicians have stated that they oppose the decision to postpone the elections.
