No in-person family tributes during this year's 9/11 memorial ceremony

Every year since 2002, family members who lost loved ones on 9/11 gathered in New York city to read out their names and personal messages. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the National September 11 Memorial Museum has asked families to record their name-readings, citing an "abundance of caution". The recordings will later be played during the memorial. Families are welcome to attend, but the Memorial Museum is still working on providing a safe visit.
