Paris: Alert set to maximum after surge in Coronavirus cases, bars will close from Tuesday on

The French government has raised the Coronavirus alert of Paris to maximum after a period of a high number of infections. As a result, bars, gyms and swimmings pools with close from Tuesday for at least two weeks. Restaurants can remain open with strict hygiene rules.

Police chief Didier Lallement said that braking measures were needed "because the epidemic is moving too fast" and to "slow it down so that our health system is not overwhelmed."
