World War II drama "Greyhound" to be released on Apple TV+ on July 10

"Greyhound", a World War II drama starring Tom Hanks, will be released on Apple TV+ on July 10. The drama is an adaptation of C.S. Forester's novel The Good Shepherd and the script was written by Tom Hanks. "Greyhound" was supposed to be released in theatres but due to Covid-19, it will premiere exclusively and digitally on Apple TV+ in over 100 countries.

Starting on early July Lufthansa plans to offer Covid-19 tests at airports in Frankfurt and Munich. An outsourced company will conduct the tests, and results will be available within four hours.

Germany to reduce VAT as part of stimulus package

The cabinet of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s agreed on Friday to cut VAT from 19% to 16% for all goods from July 1 until December 31 and give parents a cash handout of €300 per child as part of its €130 billion stimulus package.

Affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Germany's economy is expected to shrink by 6.3% this year, its worst recession since World War Two.

Matshidiso Moeti, the WHO's Africa regional director, said that the coronavirus pandemic is accelerating in all of Africa. The virus is spreading beyond major cities and into rural areas. Cases doubled in just 18 days to 200000. Moeti: "Even though these cases in Africa account for less than 3 percent of the global total, it's clear that the pandemic is accelerating."

Brazil's Health Ministry announced Thursday 1,239 new Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 40,919. The country has now the highest daily average for Covid-19 deaths.

The number of infections rose to 802,824 after 30,412 new confirmed cases were reported on June 11.

After being suspended on March 9 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, soccer in Italy is back with the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and AC Milan.

Cristiano Ronaldo will lead Juventus against an AC Milan without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with a calf injury.

The game, in Turim, starts at 19:45 (UTC).

The Football Association suspended for one match the Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli over an old Snapchat post about coronavirus that resurfaced recently.

The video posted by Alli showed him in an airport lounge wearing a face mask before focusing on a man of Asian appearance, and then finally zooming in on a bottle of antiseptic handwash.

The midfielder also received a £50,000 fine and ordered to undertake an education course.

Facebook announced Wednesday it relaxes its rules about coronavirus-related advertising. After banning ads for masks on its platform in March, the company will now allow advertisers to promote non-medical masks, provided they’re not marketed with medical, health or prevention claims.

“We will still maintain a temporary ban on selling medical masks, such as surgical or N95 masks, to prevent people from exploiting the pandemic for financial gain.,” said Rob Leathern, Facebook’s director of product management.

The United States have surpassed 2 million confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country according to John Hopkins University. In total over 112,00 people have died due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States.

Ethiopia postponed its August elections due to the coronavirus. Parliament voted 114:1, approving PM Abiy Ahmed to stay in office until a new date is found. New elections are recommended to be held in 9-12 months "after the coronavirus is deemed not to be a public health concern".
